Description

Keeping a hamster in such a cage is a very cruel treatment of an animal.

In nature hamsters roam large territories at night, and during the day they rest in deep burrows with many passages.

Such a cage does not allow him to satisfy any of his basic needs: it is very cramped, there is not even a back-friendly small wheel, there is nowhere to hide, there is nothing to dig.

Due to the cramped space, boredom, and fear, the hamster experiences constant stress, which changes its behavior:
1) Fearfulness and aggression. The hamster protects the little it has.
2) Hamsters gnaw the bars, trying to escape. There is a risk of swallowing paint or plastic, damaging the teeth.
3) They try to climb the bars upward, but cannot descend, constantly fall and may break a paw or sustain another serious injury.

There is nothing in this cage except bars and a litter tray. It is suitable only as a carrier to the veterinary clinic if you close the sides with cardboard. Living like this is not acceptable!

A budget, minimally humane option for a Djungarian hamster is a plastic container of 80 liters (60×40 cm).
